Using Google Calendar App to Keep Up with Local Fun

Summer is winding down and August finds us staying closer to home. To find fun things to do in our local area, I subscribe to Google calendars and then use the mobile app to see at a glance what is going on around town.

Most local libraries, parks, and museums publish their events to a public Google calendar. You’ll know it’s Google if you see this button at the bottom of the calendar.

Click it, and you’ll be prompted to subscribe to the calendar. Subscribe to as many as you like.

You could stop there, but I like to browse calendars in the mobile app. It’s easy to scroll down and see all the events merged together and sorted by date and time.

Some venues don’t publish a public calendar, or their event is just once a year so they don’t need one. I keep my own “Ideas” calendar for these events so they don’t slip through the cracks.

If you live in the northern Delaware area and want to keep dates like the Olde Tyme Peach Festival, First State Flea, and Point-to-Point on your radar – you can subscribe to my Ideas calendar too.
